Sunscreen Roller Blinds

Sunscreen roller blinds are a practical choice when you want to reduce glare and UV without losing your daytime view. They work especially well in living rooms, home offices, apartments and large sliding doors where strong natural light is welcome but direct sun becomes uncomfortable. At Circle Curtains, we custom make and install sunscreen roller blinds across Melbourne. We help you choose the right openness, colour and mounting style so the finished blind suits the room, the orientation of the window and the level of privacy you need during the day and at night. For a deeper look at how shading and blinds reduce heat and glare, see the Australian Government’s YourHome guide. Our team will come to measure, make and install the perfect fit.

Why choose sunscreen roller blinds for your home

Keep your windows’ view

The open-weave fabric allows you enjoy the view from your window and the natural light while reducing glare. The room creates a warm atmosphere but still stays bright.

UV protection and glare control

Sunscreen roller blinds help block a large amount of UV and help reduce the glare to make the eyes feel easier through the day. They are ideal for high level apartments with long time direct sunshine.

Fade protection and reduce heat

Our sunscreen roller blinds help reduce the direct sunshine that fades floors, furniture and paintings and also let the living rooms feel cooler on hot afternoons.

How to Choose Sunscreen Roller Blinds

Choosing sunscreen roller blinds comes down to three things, openness factor, fabric colour, and how the blind is mounted. Lower openness usually reduces glare more and improves daytime privacy, while higher openness gives a clearer view out. Colour also matters, darker tones often reduce screen reflections better, while lighter tones can reflect more heat. Finally, mounting choice affects side gaps, especially on wide windows and sliding doors.

Openness and colour option

We will help you choose the suitable openness (commonly 1% -5%) and colour to balance the brightness of your room. Darker colour reduce more glare and lighter colours reflect more heat.

Blinds installation and light gap planning

We will plan the most suitable way including standard, reverse roll, linked blinds to install the blinds to minimise side gaps for privacy matters. We also provide dual bracket option for a blockout layer which is for night coverage.

Large span linking and corners

We provide shared and split options to control the linking of multiple blinds which is used to cover wide sliders.

  • Sunscreen roller blinds do not provide any night privacy, we recommend pairing with a blockout blind.

  • Light fabric colour -> higher heat reflection and lower heat gain.
  • Recommendation: Double Roller blinds with sunscreen and blockout for day and night.

What our clients say

Installed sunscreen roller blinds in our west-facing living room and the difference is amazing. The room stays much cooler in the afternoon, and we can still enjoy the view without harsh glare.

Highly recommend these sunscreen roller blinds for Melbourne homes. They block harmful UV rays while allowing natural light, ideal for our open-plan area. The team helped us select the appropriate openness factor (5%), and the fit is perfect.

Sunscreen Roller Blinds FAQ

We provide moisture-resistant fabrics and corrosion-resistant hardware. They’re great for steam and splashes, and easy to wipe clean.

Reverse roll hides the tube for a better appearance, but the fabric will be placed away from the glass which will slightly widen side gaps. Standard roll sits closer to the glass which better reduce glow lines.

If screens are your priority, we suggest a darker colour for it reduces reflections best. If heat is your priority, a lighter colour reflects more heat.

Use an outside mount with a generous overlap and add side channels. If you prefer to put the blinds closer to the glass, use reverse roll plus a cassette.

Exposed dual brackets are the most compact options, fascia hides tubes and the cassette gives the cleanest look and better light control.
